Before anything else, I am a father and a husband. I earn a living by teaching Computer Studies in Mwense district of Luapula province, in Zambia at a STEM school. Teaching is great until you realise there's too much memorising of facts and principles that are very applicable. My learners need to experience computing and it is through this site i will be showcasing computing projects I am contributing to, or involved in, and their benefits to my clients (my learners) and those interested in their progress.
That is the question I have wrestled with throughout my teaching career. What kind of education truly levels the playing field? The answer, I have come to believe, is one that meets each learner where they are.
My name is Wakumelo Bupe Wakumelo. I am a teacher, but I am also a learner. The introduction of the Competency-Based Curriculum challenged me to look inward and ask: Am I truly equipped to teach every learner I encounter? The honest answer was no.
The truth is, many of the learners I meet lack the foundational literacy skills needed to access the curriculum. I can teach the bright ones easily, but I have always believed that my value as an educator is measured not by the success of my strongest learners, but by the growth of my weakest. If I cannot reach them, I have not yet become the educator I want to be.
That is why I started innovating. Every tool, every system, every solution on this site is my attempt to become a better teacher. I am solving the problems I am exposed to. There is much I do not yet know, but I am committed to learning.
For me, the greatest joy comes when a learner realizes the world is their laboratory. No one will teach them better than they can teach themselves. When that spark ignites, I know I have done my job.
